Now that’s a pork rind

After gagging on Epic’s cracklings last week, I decided 4505’s chicharrones couldn’t possibly be any worse, so I took another shot at pork rinds.

Unlike last week, when I opened this bag up, a pleasant smell wafted out. The flavor was nice and mild. My four-year-old said she thought it was a little spicy, but it wasn’t enough to discourage her from eating more. She kept asking for seconds! Even my very picky two-year-old said she liked them.

I really appreciated the texture of these rinds. I was too creeped out last week by the texture of the cracklings, but 4505’s chicharrones had a nice, fluffy crunch that I really enjoyed.

I had a hard time putting this bag down!

My bag of chicharrones came from the Thrive Market for $4.39. I thought the price was on the high side, but they were super good!

When I visited the website to learn more about the business, there really wasn’t too much information available. The website even redirected me to Amazon for purchases. However, after viewing the video below, I learned more about the owner and his backstory.

Ryan Farr impressed me with his clear passion for cooking meat. In 2014, he started his own restaurant: 4505 Burgers and BBQ. This must be his main focus because this website contained a lot more information.

Before beginning his own business, Farr worked for a non-profit. Now he gives back by partnering with six local non-profits each year. Every Monday, a portion of the restaurant’s profits are donated to these non-profits.

I noticed that 4505 also produces “cracklins.” I’m curious if these are any better than Epic’s. Perhaps cracklings just aren’t for me, but 4505’s chicharrones definitely are! I give this product a YES, IMBHO.
