The 22-day revolution
It’s out of the ordinary for us to review a cookbook, but The 22-Day Revolution deserves the spotlight. It’s the first time we’ve seen a plant-based cookbook that makes sense. Here’s why.
When you say you eat a plant-based diet, people assume that means you’re vegan. But this cookbook clearly explains the difference between a vegan and a plant-based eater. A vegan doesn’t eat anything that comes from an animal, including honey; however, they may choose to eat processed vegan foods.
A plant-based lifestyle stays away from animal products (meat, poultry, fish, dairy, eggs), but eats honey. And… a plant-based eater also skips the processed foods. Bingo!
Eating a 100 percent plant-based diet can be difficult, especially in the beginning, and this revolutionary cookbook makes it easier. It guides you through four different eating programs based on your individual goals. It provides you recipes that are considered “Light” and “Indulgent” for breakfast, lunch/dinner, and snacks. It then gives you an easy guide to follow that, based on the program you selected, you know whether you should eat something from the Light or Indulgent selections. So simple.
"It's very simple. Every time you eat you're either fueling disease or feeding health. Let's feed our health."
-Marco Borges
This cookbook also has some of the best bread recipes. They are egg free and most are free from refined sugar. We already made the banana bread, using pecans instead of walnuts because we can never seem to follow recipes exactly, and it was great. (This recipe comes from the Breakfast section under the Light menu.)
Next we made the Vegetable Paella, which turned out perfect, even though we used sprouted long-grain brown rice instead of short-grain brown rice, and we cheated and used some organic canned tomatoes from Thrive Market rather than spending time making our own tomato sauce (recipe is in the book).
We are eyeing the carrot cake muffin recipe and will probably skip the muffin tin and go straight to a loaf pan. We’re also looking at the multi-grain pancakes, chickpea soup and the falafel bowl. Everything looks amazing and we can’t wait to try these recipes, and it will make it easy to feel good about what we’re eating.
We can’t share any of the recipes in this cookbook, but if you’ve considered eating a more plant-rich diet, we highly recommend this book to you, available on Amazon. IMBHO-yes!
