Body butter...don't eat it

In my recent stop at Trader Joe’s, I picked up Trader Joe’s Coconut Body Butter. Typically, I like to test my lotions and body butters before I purchase, but the cellophane packaging didn’t allow for this. I’ve been in such a quandary since I can’t my favorite body butter anymore (Alba papaya mango, which appears to no longer be available and disappoints me greatly), so I went ahead and made the purchase scent unsmelled. I paid $5.49, which was a decent price for the body butter.

My first impression of this body butter when I opened the package was, “Grab a spoon!” It smelled just like coconut pudding (or coconut pie—take your pick), and I just wanted to take a spoonful. I didn’t, obviously, but oh, the smell was so enticing.

Unfortunately, when I tried the body butter in the appropriate way by rubbing it on my hands, the scent didn’t work. Perhaps it’s my chemical makeup, but I ended up having to wash my hands to rid myself of a smell so strong it was nauseating. Coconut pudding was replaced with almost a burnt sugar smell, and again, way too strong in the smell department.

So, alas, I will continue my search for a body butter that works for me. Best case scenario, Alba gets busy and puts their papaya mango body butter back on the market. Oh, and lower the price, Alba. Your body butter is great, but your price is an issue.
