There’s no love for Deep Love

When you pay $3.49 for a 10 ounce bottle of lemonade, it better be special. “Ever wonder what love tastes like?” That’s the question Deep Love asks. Our answer—not this!

So many things tank these lemonade drinks, beyond the premium price. Let’s start with the Deep Rose lemonade. Did you ever have a grandmother or great aunt bathe in rose water? Have you ever smelled rose essential oil? Answer yes to one or both and you’ll know exactly what this lemonade smells and tastes like. Skip the lemonade and eat a rose. You’ll feel fuller and won’t be disappointed by the taste.

Deep Wood lemonade is flavored with Woodruff, an herb that some say has a sweet, hay-like, earthy aroma and taste. The flavor of this lemonade was confusing, but not in a good way. Some taste testers thought it tasted like a bad cream soda. Others couldn’t peg the flavor and passed on a second drink.

The Deep Elder lemonade also had a strange taste to it, and no one on the team enjoyed this beverage. Its label says, “Premium Elderflower Lemonade”. Elderflowers have a hint of fruity citrus, but even with the concentrated lemon added to this drink, there’s nothing fruity or citrusy about it.

Concentrated lemon—perhaps that’s one of the issues with these premium lemonades. Concentrated lemon juice is made by removing the water from the lemon juice, thereby creating a more sour juice than freshly-squeezed lemons. If you ask anyone at IMBHO, if it’s called a premium lemonade and it has the price of a premium lemonade, then it must be made with fresh lemons, and these drinks are not.

What these lemonades are is super sweet—too sweet. Looking again at the label, we were aghast at the amount of sugar and sweeteners used in these drinks. Sugar is the second ingredient after purified water. Okay… it’s lemonade. We expect sugar to be on the label. But then Stevia Extract and Monk Fruit Extract are also included. WTH?

So here we sit with three bottles of lemonade and none of them rated high in terms of ingredients, flavor or price. You may as well say it with us, IMBHO-No!

DJ Rassech, President and Founder of Deep Water USA Inc. discusses how his company began with travels to Istanbul, Turkey. We applaud his inventiveness in trying to bring something new to the market, and while he understands consumers want something distinctive to drink, these lemonades simply miss the mark.

The only video we could find on YouTube was the one below. It’s no better than these lemonade drinks. Oh, and there’s exactly one subscriber to the Deep Water USA Inc. channel, which doesn’t have any content. We’re guessing the subscriber’s initials are DJR. 😊
