Duck Nuts… not what you think

They’re peanuts, people, so 100% plant-based Duck Nuts. The secret ingredient, why Duck Salt, of course.

So what’s Duck Salt? It’s a unique flavor profile created from a proprietary blend of seasonings and spices, and whipped up in small batches to ensure quality and the freshest flavors. It is MSG free (very important) and also low in sodium.

It has all the right flavors blended perfectly from salt to garlic, onion, paprika and some secret spices. And it’s a perfect match for the peanut.

Duck Salt was launched in 2012 in Greensburg, Kansas by Matt Deighton. But there’s more to the story. His idea for Duck Salt came from the days he spent in a FEMA trailer after the EF5 tornado hit Greensburg in 2007. He said he needed a hobby, so he started playing around and mixing up different spice blends.

What’s even more fun and interesting is how Deighton came up with the name Duck Salt.

During the days and months after the tornado when everyone was rebuilding the town of Greensburg, Duck Tape was used on many things. So he thought… why not call this seasoning that can be used on many things Duck Salt. Makes sense, right?

In August 2019, Deighton decided it was time to add to the product family and created Duck Nuts. (Read about it here.) And if you want to buy the product, go to the Duck Salt Facebook page and ask him where to buy the Duck Nuts.

We were lucky enough to find the Duck Nuts in Johnson Retail Liquor in Lyons, Kansas, but if you’re not from around here, we’re not sure how you buy.

One thing is for certain, though, we love Duck Nuts at IMBHO, and we always love to hear a great story about an entrepreneur, and we found one in Matt Deighton.
