Is low carb pasta real?

Why, yes, it is—at least to some extent. You can’t over-indulge, but you can limit yourself to one serving and enjoy pasta with 7 net carbs, thanks to the Great Low Carb Bread Co. out of North Hollywood, CA.

This is the second low carb pasta I’ve tried, and this one cooks up more like an egg noodle. Flavor is good; texture is great. It doesn’t have any “grainy” features as the Atkins low carb pasta does.

The package indicated a 10-minute cook time, but I cooked mine longer to get the pasta texture I prefer. I also salted my water and this pasta tends to hold the salt flavor, so don’t be too liberal when salting your cooking water.

The label is clean with only six ingredients. According to the package, it is non-GMO, Kosher and Low Carb. It is NOT gluten free, which I haven’t many low carb pastas that are gluten free, unfortunately.

I picked this pasta up at a local Green Acres Market for $7.19, so it’s not cheap, which is the only pitfall I found. I don’t eat pasta too often, so while the price is high, it lasts me awhile and gives me the pasta fix when I need it.

When checking this company’s website, I noted they retail the pasta for $7.99, so I feel pretty good about what I paid from my local retailer.

Would I buy this to feed my family? No. It’s cost prohibitive to feed the whole family, but since I’m the only low carb eater, it works for our household.
