What is the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil?

CBD

We continue to learn through exploration of this new market. “New” is a relative term, as CBD has been around for a while, but it continues to gain traction and notoriety. Hemp has been at the forefront longer, and many of us at IMBHO have used products that contain hemp or are made from hemp.

For example, we love the Hempz lotion, in particular the Exotic Green Tea & Asian Pear lotion. It has a wonderful, fresh scent. When someone uses the Pomegranate Herbal Body Moisturizer, inevitably the question is asked, “Mmmm… What smells so good?”

There are hemp clothes, hemp accessories, and hemp building materials. Hemp is everywhere. (Click here for a list of hemp products.)

It’s important to note the difference between CBD oil and hempseed oil and know what you’re buying. Often in marketing, the lines are blurred and consumers may think they’re getting one thing, when it’s just the opposite.

Comparatively, hempseed oil is a much cheaper ingredient than CBD oil.

You don’t want to pay a premium price for a product that only contains hempseed oil.

Pay attention to the ingredient list. Just because there are cannabis leaves adorning the product packaging doesn’t mean you’re getting quality CBD.

“Hempseed oil will be listed as cannabis sativa seed oil. CBD will usually be listed as cannabidiol, full-spectrum hemp, hemp oil, PCR (phytocannabinoid-rich) or PCR hemp extracts.” -- Healthline

Here’s a video from Joy Organics Co-Founder, Todd Smith. He explains the difference between hemp oil and CBD oil.
