In our three-part refried bean series, we saved the best for last.

Product #3: A Dozen Cousins Classic Refried Pinto Beans

The taste is as catchy as the brand name. The company’s mantra, “Soulfully Seasoned Beans” is highly reflective of the product, too. Built with family in mind, all products on A Dozen Cousins website were created with authentic Creole, Caribbean, and Latin American recipes. #MeltingPot #A-Mazing

These are not dried beans that need reconstituted like our other two refried beans we reviewed. Instead, they are ready in 60-seconds with zero hassle and zero mess.

The label is clean and the flavor is outstanding. The spice level is on point, with hits of onion, pepper and garlic. There are chunks of beans that create the perfect texture, and the recipe is plant-based using avocado oil as the fat.

Each serving gives you 8 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein; there is no added sugar. This product is also non-GMO and gluten free and there are zero fillers. What a fantastic product… IMBHO-yes!!

You can get an 8 pack of these refried beans for $29.99 on A Dozen Cousins website. We purchased our 8 pack on Amazon for the same price (Prime shipping).

A Dozen Cousins Meals was founded by Ibraheem Basir. Prior to launching his own brand he worked for General Mills leading new product innovation. His goal with A Dozen Cousins was to create an easy way for everyone to enjoy authentic, cultural recipes made with wholesome ingredients. And the brand name? Well, that was inspired by his daughter, her 11 cousins, and all the great family dinners they enjoyed together.

We love a business that is built on family and tradition, and that’s what you get with A Dozen Cousins. IMBHO-double yes!

Social Impact: A Dozen Cousins provides an annual grant (and volunteer support) to non-profit organizations that work to eliminate social-economic health disparities in the U.S. This pairs well with the vision of this company: “For all Americans to live a healthy lifestyle, regardless of who they are, where they live, or how much they make.”

Listen to Ibraheem, in the video below, talking about the cultural flavors and brand story. @ADozenCousins
