Fall is here and the cooler weather is on its way. There’s no better way to face the cool temperatures than with a cup of hot chocolate in hand.

The added bonus is getting to enjoy a cup of Sillycow Farms hot chocolate — Uniquely Vermont, Naturally.

In 2008, Fran & Jonathan Rutstein introduced the Sillycow Farms hot chocolate, which now offers over 13 different flavors. If you want Fair Trade hot chocolate, there are six flavors. All are packaged in nostalgic pint-size glass bottles.

In a blind taste test against 19 other brands, Sillycow Farms was named the #1 brand of hot chocolate by “Eat This, Not That!”. Yes, Sillycow even beat out Ghirardelli, Godiva and Starbucks!

For our taste test, we purchased three flavors: Chocolate Truffle, Chocolate Peppermint Twist, and Chocolate Marshmallow Swirl.

We first tried the peppermint twist. It had just the right amount of peppermint to throw us into the holiday spirit. We know… it’s not the holidays yet, but they’re not that far away.

The truffle had the deepest chocolate flavor, and the marshmallow swirl rounded out our taste test with definitive marshmallow presence. There were plenty of arguments over a favorite, so no ranking. You simply must try all three.

Do keep in mind you’re drinking hot chocolate. No fake sugars used—only the real thing. In terms of ingredients, it’s a clean label. These products are also gluten free and non-GMO. If you can’t drink dairy, you’re in luck. Sillycow is dairy free, too; simply blend the hot chocolate mix with a non-dairy milk of choice.

Sillycow Farms hot chocolate may have started in Vermont, but it’s now available in all 50 states. You can order online or pick up in your local grocery store. Check the map to find a store near you that carries Sillycow.

Even if you’re not a hot chocolate drinker, visit the Sillycow website. There are some fantastically-fun graphics that are “Silly by Nature” and “Moo-licious”.

Oh, and the website has recipes for hot chocolate brownies, pudding shots, and frozen cheesecake — all using Sillycow Farms hot chocolate as the “secret sauce” to create these rich and tasty treats. It’s the special formulation of Sillycow hot chocolate that makes it perfect for baking.
