Gluten free and paleo approved, Soozy did her best to bring grain-free muffins to the market. Found in the freezer section of your local grocery, each muffin will run you around $2.

What are some good notes about these muffins? Non-GMO, no dairy, no soy, no gums, and no peanuts. This makes them an allergen-friendly muffin option. Even though they are in the freezer section, they can remain at room temperature for up to two days, so you can easily grab one on the go.

In terms of flavor, the Wild Blueberry muffin smelled and tasted more like an oatmeal cookie than a blueberry muffin. There were real blueberries in the muffin, but we still couldn’t get the blueberry taste. Perhaps the blueberries used in the muffin mix were out of season. Just a guess…

The Double Chocolate muffin was much better in terms of flavor, and moist. The blueberry muffin was dry and crumbly.

Both muffins contain 4 grams of protein. The blueberry muffin has 7 grams of added sugar (organic coconut sugar), while the double chocolate muffin has 12 grams of sugar. That’s 2 teaspoons of sugar.

The label is clean, but the muffins do contain eggs, so they are not vegan.

While the sugar content is high, the label is clean, so we’re giving these muffins an IMBHO-maybe. In a pinch, these muffins could deliver a clean snack, and when compared to other pre-made muffins in the market, there is no muffin better.

For instance, let’s take a quick peek at Otis Spunkmeyer muffins – a popular brand.

Here’s what you get in the blueberry muffin:

An ingredient list full of words you have to look up to understand. They contain soybean oil, soy flour, soy lecithin as well as bleached wheat flour and wheat gluten. With sugar being the FIRST ingredient on the list, you also get 18 grams of sugar. That’s over twice what Soozy’s muffins have in them.

So if you need a muffin and don’t have time to bake them at home, Soozy’s is, by far, your better option.
