Pucker up, Buttercup!
We’ve all heard the health benefits of apple cider vinegar (ACV), but I’m guessing taking a shot of ACV may not be at the top of your list. If you are one of those people who can take the explosive hit, more power to you. It takes my breath away to take a shot of ACV—up my nose and cough, cough, cough. It is potent!
But the heralded benefits don’t go unnoticed, so I’ve been searching for some way to get my daily dose of ACV without having to shoot it first thing in the morning.
I see a lot of gummies in the market, and I’ve not yet tried those. At first I was a tad-bit disappointed that the gummies I’ve seen have 3 grams of carbs per gummy; that seemed like a lot to me. On the other hand, the ACV chewable this blog is dedicated to, also has 3 grams of carbs per serving. I guess it stands to reason, that if some sort of sweetener isn’t present, whether it’s a gummy or a chewable, it wouldn’t be any better than taking a shot of this stuff, so I’ll work with it.
Here’s what I like about the KAL Apple Cider Vinegar chewables:
1. They added in some green apple flavor, so it’s like eating a very sour sweet tart. It doesn’t have any vinegar overtones, just tart apple, like a Granny Smith.
2. The bottle I purchased for around $10 (Amazon Prime) contains 60 chewables, so if you don’t consume more than one per day, the bottle will last you two months. It’s a good deal.
3. The chewables aren’t chalky at all, and I have a tendency to eat them slowly, enjoying the reminiscent memories of eating sour candies. They’re just very flavorful.
The one thing I don’t like is the first ingredient on the “Other Ingredients” list is Sorbitol, which is a type of carbohydrate called sugar alcohol or polyol. That means, if you over-indulge, it could create some gastrointestinal distress—or at least that’s how sugar alcohols affect my system. Some people can consume mass amounts with no issues. Me? I’m not that lucky.
With supplements, I like to know who’s making the products; perhaps you’d also like to know. So here’s a link to the KAL website: Neutraceutical KAL.
Even with Sorbitol in the ingredient list, I like taking my daily dose (or two) of ACV this way, so I’ll be buying again!
