Sweet Street not so sweet
I like foods that offer a sweet and salty flavor profile, so I was excited to try Sweet Street’s Salted Caramel Manifesto cookie. When I opened the package, I was drawn in by the smell of a really good sugar cookie with caramel overtones. When I pulled it from the package, the granulated sugar on top sparkled and made me want to take a bite.
But when I tried to break off a piece of the cookie so I could taste it, cookie shards flew everywhere—all over my keyboard. Oops…
The first thing I tasted was a heavy dose of salt, but that was okay with me. I wanted salty with my sweet. However, I wasn’t blown away by the flavor of this cookie. Nothing specific really pops; flavors are more muddled, and I couldn’t pick out specific ingredients or flavor profiles like caramel, vanilla or almonds. I don’t think I would purchase this particular cookie again, but I might try other cookie types. However, this is not a Keto-friendly sweet treat, so note that, but it is Non-GMO and uses cage-free eggs.
I do like the story behind this brand. It is a woman-owned company and was started by Sandy Solmon in 1979. The brand’s mission statement is “The Power of Good Food Shared”.
