Black beans take front and center with Food Should Taste Good’s multigrain bean chips. Baked black beans, flax, sunflower and sesame seeds and quinoa all work together to create a crispy bean chip. We paired it with F.N. Hot salsa and had a home run.

Food Should Taste Good (FSTG) is a terrific brand name and it represents what it preaches. The bean chips are gluten free, non-gmo, dairy free, kosher and vegan and have a clean label to boot.

Pete Lescoe is founder of FSTG, starting his company in 2006. His non-GMO commitment and passion for food with sophisticated flavor qualities drove his inspiration for the brand.

Besides the multigrain bean cheap, FSTG also offers a variety of tortilla chips including sweet potato, jalapeno and kimchi. Find out more about this company and its products on the FSTG website.

What took these chips up a notch was pairing them with Forgetful Ned’s (F.N.) Hot “Medium” Salsa which is dynamite. This salsa has a richness to it that many salsas lack. It’s not watery and forgetful (no pun intended), but instead leaves you wanting more.

While the brand name is F.N. Hot, the salsa we purchased was “Medium”, and the spice level was perfect. We had not heard of this brand until we were perusing the salsa aisle in our local grocery store, but the packaging caught our eye immediately. We had a good laugh about the brand name and enjoyed some of the quirkiness on the package, including “So hot you’ll forget your… Ex.” A good laugh always gives us a reason to purchase a new product.

F.N. Hot salsa is gluten free, vegan and low in carbs (1 net carb per serving). It’s made in Texas… probably. And it offers words of caution to the consumer, including “Note to Self: After handling jalapeno peppers, don’t forget to wash hands before going to the restroom.” Sage advice, Ned!

According to the F.N. Hot website, it’s not about who Ned is personally, but what he’s about… and he’s about respecting those who serve. Ned always donates 5% of his annual profits to Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which ensures a fully-funded college education to every child of a military special operator who lost his/her life in the line of duty.

For both Food Should Taste Good and F.N. Hot, it’s a high-five and an IMBHO-yes! We love both these products, and we especially love Ned’s approach to helping others.
