black bean and sesame fettuccine.jpg

Two ingredients: organic black bean flour and sesame seed flour. One fabulous fettuccine.

Cooked according to directions, Explore Cuisine’s organic black bean and sesame fettuccine comes out with a perfect al dente pasta texture. There is zero grainy texture as one might expect from the beans, and the sesame adds dimension to the flavor profile of this pasta.

We opted to not sauce our first batch, only coating it with avocado oil and a touch of salt and pepper. We wanted to taste the pasta in its purest form. Winner. Winner. Chicken dinner. So good!

We also wanted to test this pasta with sauce to see how it would perform. While some pastas have a tendency to soak up the sauce and get mushy, this fettuccine does not. It holds its form and bite. Hurray for leftovers!

Not only did this pasta stand up to all our taste and texture tests, but it is filling. Each 2 oz serving provides you with 23 grams of plant protein, 19 grams of carbs and 13 grams of fiber. That’s only 6 grams of net carbs for all you Ketotarians out there.

It is also gluten free, vegan, non-GMO, organic and gets an IMBHO-yes! We found all the product labels on Explore Cuisine’s product lineup to have simple and clean labels. Another big win in our book.

Explore Cuisine has an eight point manifesto that is inspiring (click here to read it). Its mission is to “transform everyday family-friendly foods by placing fun and healthy twists on the classics.” This brand has certainly met its mission with this plant-based pasta.

The company is also inspiring home cooks with recipes for their products. Click the video below to see how they use the black bean pasta. Yum!
