Veggie burgers for lunch x 2. We tried the California veggie burger and the Black Bean Quinoa veggie burger from “dr. Praeger’s” Purely Sensible Foods.

“dr. Praeger’s” pioneered the “meatless” industry, opening its doors nearly 25 years ago. They have a wide selection of products including burgers, Littles (nuggets), Oaties (breakfast), Cakes (patties), Puffs (tots), Hash Browns, Bowls and Seafood. They recently introduced the Perfect Burger. Made from Pure Plant Protein, it’s said to rival the Impossible Burger. (See video below.)

We like how this company uses recognizable ingredients in all its products. They also have products that fit specific dietary needs such as gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. All their products are Kosher, Non-GMO and Gluten Free certified. All seafood used in their products is certified sustainable.

We cooked the California veggie burger in the oven. It didn’t crisp on the outside and wasn’t a complete success. So we changed our methods with the Black Bean Quinoa burger and fixed it in a pan on the stove top. Perfection! It had a crispy outside and soft inside. We preferred the taste of the black bean burger over the California burger, too, finding the California burger a bit too light in flavor. The black bean burger had a spicy kick at the end.

While we didn’t top these burgers with any condiments or put them on a bun, next time we will and we’re sure they will be a huge success with our families. Lettuce, kale, and spinach will be growing in the garden soon (visit the Garden Zone), so we’ll have plenty of fresh produce to top off these burgers. IMBHO-yes!!

We’re also going to check into the Perfect Burger, so you can expect a follow-up review on it in the future.
