Crunchy cookie bites
Grace’s Best Cookies depicts family and tradition. Started in 1992 by Grace’s grandmother, Margaret, the cookie company’s best seller was its sunflower seed and rolled oats cookie, and today the company touts selling over 99 million of these cookies.
The cookies are bite-size gems, the size of a half dollar, and offer a crispy, crunchy experience with a sunflower, oatmeal and sugar flavor profile. The label is clean, but the cookies are manufactured in a facility where products containing peanuts and tree nuts are processed.
I wish these cookies were gluten free, and maybe Grace’s Best will consider that down the road. For now, my cookie-fiend daughter cannot partake because of her gluten intolerances.
Looking at the website, it appears this company is a one-horse show with only the sunflower seed & rolled oats cookie. They sell in select stores across the nation, including Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, GreenAcres Markets and Hy-Vee.
I’m interested to see if this company can sustain its growth and longevity with one lone cookie product, of if it will need to innovate and reinvigorate the brand to keep it fresh and relevant. Time will tell.
I purchased a mini package of Grace’s Best containing six small cookies, which equates to 130 calories, 2.5 grams of saturated fat, 16 grams of carbs and 1 gram of protein. It feels like a lot of calories and carbs for six tiny cookies, so I’m not convinced this is a purchase I will make again.
Through the various test trials, the overall sentiment for flavor and texture was positive. The downside came from the number of calories and carbs in the cookies, but if you’re eating cookies, are you really counting calories and carbs? Probably not, but there was enough discussion around the topic for this product to warrant an IMBHO-maybe.
