Lenny & Larry's Cookies.jpg

I’ve had my share of protein shakes, protein bars and protein snacks as I’ve continued to find just the right health & wellness balance in my life. As I was working on another blog, I heard about Lenny and Larry’s Complete cookies and how they were so great with 16 grams of plant-based protein; all the protein cookie companies are trying to emulate them (so I was told).

Words of caution – they’re not that great.

I was disappointed first by the smell of these cookies. There wasn’t an ounce of freshness. I mean, typically when you open a packaged cookie, you get a whiff of something sweet and indulgent. With these cookies, it was an assault on my olfactory nerves.

I get it; it’s hard to make protein taste good. I’m just saying, if other companies are trying to emulate Lenny & Larry’s, I don’t necessarily think that’s the right direction. We consumers don’t want copies of products already on shelf; we always want something better.

Furthermore, Lenny & Larry’s Complete cookies are high in carbs, which makes it even crazier to me that they don’t taste good. I know creating low-carb, sweet treats gets tricky with all the sugar alcohols, monk fruit and stevia recipes…which no one has successfully achieved IMBHO, but I will say the first sweet treat that hits the shelves that offers a low-carb, sweet delight with zero aftertaste and no impending digestive issues will win the race – and my gratitude.

For now, I’m going to pass on purchasing more of Lenny & Larry’s cookies. Instead, I’m going to continue to scan the web for recipes so I can make my own.

Lenny & Larry’s does offer other products, and you can see their entire lineup and learn a little about the company by visiting their website. I did get a good chuckle when I learned that “two gym rats, Benny & Barry” started this company. Benny & Barry became Lenny & Larry… priceless.
