Are you crazy about mushrooms? We are. And we’re crazy about Nearby Naturals, too. Seriously… mushroom mania is an understatement.

Billed as the “Freshest Fungi” on earth, Nearby Naturals sells grow kits for a variety of mushrooms including Lion’s Mane, Blue Oyster, Gold Oyster, Pink Oyster and Phoenix Jumbo. The mushrooms we tried were Pioppino, which are no longer on the site, so we’re guessing there may be a season to mushrooms. The company also has King Trumpet, Shiitake and Reishi mushroom kits, though they are not listed at the moment, either.

If you are a true mushroom connoisseur, you know fresh is best. What’s even better about these mushrooms is how clean they are. Mushrooms you get from the grocery store are often covered in…well, let’s call it organic material. But when you grow your own mushrooms, they are super fresh and clean!

Based in Orlando, Florida, Nearby Naturals sells their mushroom kits for around $40. The caveat here is you can get more than one harvest of mushrooms from the kit. Just follow the instructions the company provides when you get the kit—or watch their series of instructional videos. If you do the math, you’ll quickly note growing your own mushrooms from a Nearby Naturals kit is more cost effective than purchasing from the grocery store. Win-win-win… IMBHO-yes!

If you’re not a mushroom lover, but you’re a parent, this is a terrific science experiment you can do with your children. The photos we’ve shared span just shy of three weeks. The mushrooms grew so fast we seriously could see a difference in their mass and height throughout each day.

We grew our mushrooms on the corner of kitchen counter. The room temperature was steady at 70 degrees. We followed instructions and spritzed our mushrooms daily with water. So easy—and such great delight watching something grow. #MushroomFun

And the flavor…so, so good! We cooked ours up in a big pot of mushroom soup and it was amazing.

Watch the instructional video below. We told you it was easy. :)
