Power Up proves unworthy

Boring and bland. No salt or seasoning. Looks better than it tastes.

These are all comments regarding the “GourmetNut Power Up” trail mix. Its package touts it as being “premium, simple ingredients great for on the go snacking”. But we think they took simple a little too far.

None of the ingredients rose to the occasion. We were excited to see cherries on the list. That’s something you don’t always find in trail mix. But they didn’t add any value or taste.

When we eat raw nuts, we expect a more “natural” flavor profile. This trail mix is not raw, so we expected a step up on flavor. For whatever reason, it didn’t meet any of our expectations. Perhaps a little salt would help bring out the flavor, and perhaps this trail mix could be used successfully as an ingredient for a cookie, but it’s touted as a “grab and go” snack, not as an additive to “power up” baked goods or make-at-home trail mix. It should stand on its own, and it doesn’t.

The GourmetNut website was an interesting read. It used words like “mouthwatering”, “flavorful”, “decadent”, “infuse your tastebuds”, and “delectable flavors”. We wish this was the case with this protein packed trail mix, but it doesn’t deliver on any of these promises, thus our IMBHO-no rating.

This company offers a good range of products, though we don’t know much about the company itself. #notransparency

The photos on their site are great and make you want to eat their products, but this time we’re one and done. There’s no going back to try something different.

… We couldn’t even find a good YouTube video on this company. :(
