The why behind ShiKai

CBD is a growing trend; I see it everywhere. It’s a big topic in the consumer-packaged goods industry as it enters retail grocery stores. I have looked at it several times in multiple stores, but have never made the purchase because it has such a high price point. But during my last excursion in Whole Foods, I found a sample-size ShiKai CBD lotion (topical cannabidiol) for $10. Okay, $10 wasn’t too bad, but to maintain perspective, this was for 1 oz of unscented body lotion.

There are a lot of emerging CBD brands, but ShiKai is not a new company. It was founded in 1970 by an organic chemist who focused on natural, Ayurvedic ingredients in his products. This intrigued me and is ultimately the why behind my ShiKai purchase.

I learned about Ayurveda when I attended the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and became a health coach. While I am not a practicing health coach, this program taught me so much about nutrition, and I highly recommend it for anyone seeking health and wellness knowledge.

“The Sanskrit term Ayurveda translates to “knowledge of life,” and the principles of this ancient wisdom remind us that the entire web of life is intricately interwoven.” This comes from the National Ayurvedic Medical Association website.

As for this product, I had two distinct uses in mind when I purchased it. The first was my left hand. I’ve been having a lot pain to the point where I can’t pick up anything heavy and hold it with my left hand. I’m not sure how I injured my hand, regardless, I’ve been dealing with it for a few weeks now. Last night I put some of the CBD lotion on my hand before I went to bed, which was throbbing from a busy day. When I woke this morning, I made coffee, sat down and picked up the mug with my left hand without thinking. Two seconds later I realized my hand didn’t hurt. Hmmm. Is it possible this CBD lotion really helped that much?

To test it further, I put some on my left shoulder and neck this morning. I live with TMJ, and for anyone who has TMJ, you know how painful it can be. It affects my right ear and left shoulder, to the point where I have major burning sensations in my left shoulder, while my right ear severely aches. While I found lifting weights helps alleviate some of the shoulder pain, I spend a lot of time in front of a computer, and this tends to aggravate my shoulder.

I’m still sitting at the computer two hours later, and my shoulder feels pretty good, so much so I’m ready to spend the $50 and move up to the big bottle of ShiKai CBD lotion, which turns into a big recommendation for this product.
