Microbead-free facial cleanser

Imagine this on your face AFTER you washed it!

I’ll be honest—when I saw the microbead-free claim on this facial cleanser, I had to look up exactly what that means. Here’s what I found. Microbeads are solid plastic particles of less than one millimeter. They are used in all kinds of personal care and cosmetic products. However, in 2015, Congress passed a new law banning microbeads.

“The Microbead-Free Waters Act of 2015 prohibits the manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of rinse-off cosmetics containing plastic microbeads. This new law also applies to products that are both cosmetics and non-prescription (also called “over-the-counter" or "OTC") drugs, such as toothpastes.” (fda.gov)

If you’re interested in more information on this law, visit this FDA link.

But let’s move past microbeads and talk about this facial cleanser. It is on my favorites list. SkinCeuticals was founded in 1997. The SkinCeuticals website has a vast amount of information on the history of the company and its products, and they are legit!

This facial cleanser claims to be a clarifying, exfoliating cleanser, and it certainly does the job. When I’m using this cleanser in my daily routine, my face feels clean and stays clear. Because this product has alpha hydroxy acids in it, you need to ensure you use sunscreen when going outside; but seriously, shouldn’t this be part of our daily routine anyway?

I would say this product is mid-tier in terms of price. It’s going to cost you more than if you go to Walmart and purchase a cleansing product, but it’s not the most expensive product in the market. On the SkinCeuticals website, you can purchase this product for $35; however, right now Rakuten will give you a 7% cash back. I do love a good Rakuten kickback.

What you must remember is your $35 spend will last you for quite some time. It doesn’t take much cleanser to wash your face, so you’re not making this type of purchase on a frequent basis. When it comes to face cleanser, quality is extremely important.

I like the line of SkinCeuticals products, and definitely will be looking at some of their other products to try. When I do, you’ll be the first to get my review.
