Adagio tea snob

I’m a tea snob. I’m not a caffeine junky because I get hooked too easy and become dependent on it, so I like to stick with green tea. But finding a green tea I liked was difficult. I’ve tasted many green teas that had a fishy smell and taste, and a fishy tea just isn’t something I want to consume.

We have a local coffee shop and I discovered they served the best mango iced tea. Not to take business away from them as I did frequent the joint after the discovery, but I needed to have this tea at home so I could enjoy it anytime. On one visit to the coffee shop, I asked the kind barista what brand of tea they were serving, and they went to the backroom and came back to me with an answer, “Adagio”. Hmmm…I had not heard of this brand, so I went to my friend google to search it out.

As a tea snob, I recognize that I probably pay more for tea than say people who consume your mainstream teas, and this is certainly the case with Adagio. It’s a bit pricey.

Also, beware of counterfeit Adagio teas. While I love my Adagio tea, I did search for a lower price point than what I can get from the Adagio website, so I went to my favorite shopping stomping ground, Amazon. I did find an Adagio mango green iced tea at a lower price and ordered it. Two days later (thank you, Prime), I had tea in hand. Unfortunately, it was horrific! It had zero mango flavor and honestly, zero appeal. So back to Adagio.com I went and now I get an auto shipment of tea every two months and I earn reward points. I like reward points!

Adagio mango green iced tea is touted as “Vegetal goodness of China green tea and floral flavor of ripe mango. Juicy, creamy finish, candy sweet.” I think “juicy” may take it a bit too far, but this tea does deliver on its promise. You can taste the mango, yet it doesn’t overwhelm the bitter of the tea. It’s a perfect blend for me giving me a full-flavor experience. I like my tea strong, so I steep two pouches at a time for about an hour. My shortcut is using my Keurig to fill a glass measuring cup with water, resting a fork on top so my tea bags are fully immersed, and covering with a paper towel to let it steam. Then I put it in my little tea pitcher, fill it with RO water, and I’m set for 2-3 days.

I would give this tea 5 out of 5 stars. You don’t need a sweetener to enjoy its natural goodness, so it’s Keto friendly—a bonus in my book.

Adagio offers a lot of flavorful teas, but I’ve tried very few. When I find something I like, I don’t diversify much. But, if you’re not a fan of mangos (like my daughter), I’m sure you’ll find something that will speak to your palate personally. Visit adagio.com to discover a tea taste adventure. And if you are part of Rakuten, right now you get 2.5% back on your purchases. It’s a double tea-time bonus! Enjoy!
