Organic pumpkin seeds perfect protein snack

In a 2.2 oz bag of Skout Backcountry pumpkin seeds, you get a whopping 20 grams of plant protein.

Of the five flavor profiles available, we selected to try these three: Pink Himalayan Sea Salt, Sea Salt & Vinegar, and Spicy Texas Chili. We found the seasoning was quite light on all these pumpkin seed varieties, and we would have liked more, but the flavor of the pumpkin seeds themselves was good. The Spicy Texas Chili also had a light flavor profile, but there was a spicy bite at the end that lingered after eating the seeds.

Skout Organic was founded by Jason Patega (and his dog, Skout), when he noted a need for a healthier snack. His first efforts were spent on his organic protein bars, and in the last few years he introduced his line of pumpkin seeds. Smart move!

Pumpkin seeds are one of the healthiest snacks. Not only are they high in plant protein, but they provide a good source of magnesium and other minerals. They are high in antioxidants, full of beneficial fats, and can help control blood sugar.

We also read how pumpkin seeds can boost the immune system, and as COVID-19 continues to plague us, it’s a good time to do anything we can to boost our immune systems.

While we give Skout pumpkin seeds an IMBHO-yes, we also wanted to share with you another pumpkin seed win that actually costs less.

You can get a 16 oz bag of ethically sourced, organic pumpkin seeds from Thrive Market for $7.99. It’s a darn good deal, and we have been purchasing their organic seeds for quite some time. We like to snack on them and use them in our homemade baked goods.

And while you’re shopping Thrive Market for pumpkin seeds, check out their sunflower seeds, too. Both of their seed products contain exactly one ingredient each… seeds.
