Solely: Fruit gummies, solely mediocre

Fruit snacks are a kid’s favorite, but all that added sugar can be a parent’s nightmare. The Solely Company seeks to provide a solution. Their goal is to produce affordable and yummy whole fruit snacks without all the unhealthy additives. Were they successful in their execution?

We bought a 5-count box of mango & guava fruit gummies for $5.99 on the Thrive Market. Affordable? Check.

A glance at the nutrition label satisfied this momma’s heart. Only 3 ingredients: mango, guava and plenty of Vitamin C. The fruit provides a little fiber and only 6 grams of sugar. Healthy? Check.

Upon opening a bag, we noticed they smelled quite unusual. They looked pretty plain, like little rubbery cubes. This didn’t deter my girls from trying them out, though.

My 2-year-old sunk her teeth in, decided it was “yucky” and spit it back out.

My 4-year-old tried a few before concluding that these fruit snacks were “for the bats.” Though she didn’t find the flavor bad enough to spit out, she was not interested in finishing a bag.

I have to admit, I wasn’t super impressed with the flavor myself. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. The texture was alright. It was sticky, but that’s expected from a fruit snack.

My husband said they were actually pretty good.

Yummy? I guess that depends on your palate. IMBHO, maybe.

I think it’s safe to say these fruit snacks are not kid-approved, at least not by my kids! However, The Solely Company has other snack options. Aside from three different flavors of fruit gummies, you can also find dried fruit snacks and several flavors of fruit jerky. It’s worth a try!
