We’re all aware of how bad plastic straws are for the environment. Some business have switched to paper straws, but those get so soggy and gross! Glass and metal straws seem like they’d be harsh on the teeth. Reusable plastic straws aren’t too bad until they get worn out, and it’s time to toss them. They make for less waste, but not necessarily better waste. So what’s the best solution?

Holy City Straw Co. gets their straws straight from nature! This means they are totally safe to toss or, better yet, compost!

For $7.50, we purchased a 10 pack of the reusable reed straws from the company’s website. Other options include single-use wheat straws in two different sizes. You can purchase 100 cocktail-sized wheat straws for $7 or tall wheat straws for $8. These straws are literally just wheat stems that are left over after grain harvest. Talk about sustainability!

The reed stem straws are a little more durable, though. Plus, they’re dishwasher safe— YAY! I’ve lost count of how many uses my daughter and I have gotten out of each straw. Over 20 uses!

I love how thick these straws are! They are perfect for frozen drinks! And if you’re mixing a drink, they also work great for stirring!

Holy City Straw Co. offers purchase options for businesses as well as straw holders, straw/napkin caddies, and branded straw boxes. They brand the reed straws using a laser engraver, so you can even personalize your straws!

Not only does this company provide a solution to our global straw issue, but Holy City Straw Co. also participates in 1% for the Planet by donating 1% of their profits to environmental-friendly organizations. They also contribute to Oceanic Global.

IMBHO, this product gets an emphatic YES! The price is right, and the environmental impact makes it impossible to pass up!
