We love potato chips. It’s at the very top of our list of guilty pleasures. If all we did was potato chip reviews, we would be one happy gang. So it was easy to pick up a bag of Uglies and say, “Hey, let’s try these!”

We weren’t sure what to expect when we opened the bag of Uglies. Were they going to be ghastly looking chips that were hard to consider eating? No! They were a bag of potato chips that were a little darker in color with a couple of chips that had slightly darker spots, but other than that they were perfectly imperfect.

As far as flavor goes, these are crispy, crunchy kettle chips with just enough saltiness to curb the craving. The one differentiator is the message behind these chips, which is reduce waste and help fight hunger. IMBHO-yes!

According to the Uglies website, this company has helped reduce food waste by saving over 1.5 million pounds of potatoes since 2017.

Every year…

  • 30% of food produce is wasted worldwide (1.3 billion tons)

  • 26% of U.S. produce gets rejected for cosmetic reasons

  • 20% of children worldwide under the age of five are undernourished

This is why Uglies has developed a potato chip with a mission.

Furthermore, 10% of sales from all Uglies Chips goes to Viva Kids to help fight hunger.

You know there are times in your life when you rationalize why you do something. It makes you feel better about your choices. So make this choice. Eat Uglies and know that you’re supporting two worthy causes while you indulge on great potato chips!
