Wild Zora has taken “cup of soup” to a new level, bringing in health-forward ingredients that can be prepared in less than a minute.

Zora, founder of the company, is a firm believer in the ability to control diet and lifestyle. She created Wild Zora soup mixes with one thing in mind—to create “real food” that is minimally processed with all-natural ingredients.

The soup mix we purchased was the Lemon Chicken Soup (with carrots, green onion and dill). It was a good choice in terms of flavor, especially for those of us who like green-tasting foods. It had a grassy essence from the parsley and rosemary with a hint of lemony citrus.

This what we call a “feel good” food—it makes you feel good when you eat it because it screams healthy.

While we enjoyed the flavor, the drawback was the inclusion of freeze-dried chicken and vegetables. At the end of soup sipping, there was a mound of sludge in the bottom of the cup. When we scooped up the pieces of chicken and vegetables with a spoon, it was much like eating sand. Terrible mouthfeel.

To be fair, there are explicit instructions on the package to “stir continuously while eating”. But to be reasonable, is there anyone out there who wants to stir their soup continuously while eating? #NotUs

The taste was good, but the gravel-like sludge leftover at the end of the sip definitely detracted from thoroughly enjoying Wild Zora soup. This brings us to a consensus of IMBHO-maybe.

There are positives to what Zora has created—a quick soup with clean ingredients (no nightshade vegetables). The chicken used is free range and without antibiotics or added hormones. The soup is gluten and grain free and there is no added sugar.

If you don’t mind a mound of freeze-dried chicken and vegetables at the bottom of the cup (or if you don’t mind a stirring workout while you eat), then this soup is for you!

We’ll likely purchase again because it’s good to have a quick option on hand, and at 50 calories, it’s not going to break the daily calorie bank. We’ll just rinse the bottom-dwelling leftovers down the drain. 😊

We purchased our Wild Zora soup packets from Thrive Market—8 packets for $15.99. You can also purchase directly from the Wild Zora website for about the same price. There are vegan and AIP options, too—something for everyone!

Beyond instant soups, Wild Zora offers meat/veggie bars (a take on jerky), paleo meals and hot cereals. It’s definitely worth visiting the website and checking out the line up of healthy snacking and quick meal options.
