I discovered the power of chia several years ago when my mother-in-law gifted me with a Nutribullet. Most of the recommended recipes included chia seeds. After doing some research on chia and discovering all the health benefits, I started adding the seeds to my breakfast routine. Because of my love for chia, I couldn’t wait to try Mamma Chia’s squeeze pouches!

Our box of four came from Thrive Market for $6.49. For a total of 14 ounces, that’s a little expensive. There are several flavors to choose from: strawberry lemonade, cherry beet, green magic, strawberry banana, mango coconut and more. I tried the blueberry acai, and it was phenomenal.

Janie Hoffman started Mamma Chia in 2009 after realizing the rejuvenating effects chia seeds had on her own health. As a woman-owned company, Mamma Chia strives for consciousness and sustainability and is also a member of 1% for the Planet.

I absolutely loved this product! The ingredients listed were all organic and simple. I was excited to see a high fiber content — 21% daily value! The nutrition label also noted two grams of protein and 1200 mg of omega-3s.

I thought this would be another fantastic snack for my kids because of the nutritional value. However, they didn’t appreciate the seedy texture… More for me! I thought the texture was unique, but the hydrated chia seeds were a nice touch. The flavor was exceptional! It was refreshingly sweet and fruity — with no added sugars, and only 70 calories!

Even though the price is a little high, the quality matches it! IMBHO, Mamma Chia gets a big YES! I will be purchasing the other flavors now because they all sound equally delicious!
