Mezcla touts itself as a different kind of protein bar. “One that celebrates its diversity through food and art.”

We believe Mezcla is bringing the world together through international ingredients and flavors that differentiate this protein bar from so many others. IMBHO-yes!

What we like even better is the entrepreneurial spirit behind the bar, which started out with Kickstarter. We are huge proponents of Kickstarter and have supported many entrepreneur ventures.

For Mezcla it was a big win, with the team raising 225% more than their $$ goal.

With Kickstarter behind them, Mezcla just launched their bars to the masses on July 11 in 625 Walmart stores across the US. But don’t wait too long to purchase. They’ve already sold out in 43 stores!

The one thing you can always count on with protein bars is this… they don’t really taste good but you eat them anyway because you want the extra protein in your diet.

Well, you no longer have to suffer through eating a protein bar that tastes like dirt.

Reach for Mezcla, which means ‘mixture’ in Spanish, and you will swear you’re eating a rice crispy treat on steroids.

These bars come in three flavors, and all three are amazing in their own right. Each bar is made with pea protein and the majority of the ingredients are organic. They are also vegan, non-GMO, gluten free, dairy free and soy free.

Our favorite was the Peruvian Cocoa Peanut Butter bar, which has a mixture of amaranth and quinoa giving it the perfect texture. This bar is truly reminiscent of a rice crispy treat that’s made with peanut butter. The benefit of eating this bar over the rice crispy treat is lower sugar and high protein.

The Mexican Chipotle Hot Chocolate bar is made with quinoa and mild chili pepper. It has a rich, smoky, chocolate flavor profile and the chili pepper gets you at the back of your throat… but it’s not too much. It’s just enough to wake up your senses and spark your brain into wanting another bite.

The Japanese Matcha Vanilla is equally delicious and is made with amaranth and Himalayan pink salt. The vanilla balances out the Matcha nicely so the Matcha isn’t overwhelming. Other ingredients include pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chickpeas and quinoa. All healthy ingredients!

There’s another side to Mezcla, beyond the quality of their bars. This company is using its packaging to celebrate the love of art. When you pick up a bar, you can scan the QR code on the front of the package and see the daily featured art + artist. How cool is that? You can even submit your own artwork and be part of of the growing Mezcla movement. To do this, simply email art@eatmezcla.com for more information.

Furthermore, Mezcla is giving back. With a portion of their profits, they are funding art supplies for under-served schools across the country. We say it again… IMBHO-yes!

We have tried a lot of protein bars and Mezcla wins the gold on flavor and texture. But even beyond that, this company wins on passion, spirit, and the ability to intertwine art and food. #MezclaMovement
