We often tout how much we like Thrive Market and we purchase many of the products we review from this online retailer.

Thrive Market does a good job of carrying products for every dietary lifestyle. That’s what we like best about this site. It’s easy to find specific products that are gluten free, organic, keto, paleo, FODMap, and more.

As we were searching through the gluten-free snack options, we came across Simply 7 Veggie Chips. We are fervent chip lovers, so we were excited when we made this purchase. ($2.79 per 4 oz bag)

There are many positives about this brand, including organic, non-gmo, gluten-free, kosher, and vegan ingredients. The label is clean, though the ingredients are processed into flours or dehydrated. This eliminates a lot of nutrients from veggies used in these chips. Sunflower and/or safflower oil is used, which isn’t the best in our opinion. We like to see olive, coconut, or avocado oil—just our preference.

The veggie chips also carry the “Free From” claim. They are free from milk, wheat, egg, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, sesame seeds, fish, and shellfish.

Unfortunately, when it came to taste and texture, our positive vibes waned. With each bite, everyone noted a greasy taste that coated the mouth. The chips left us wanting more in flavor and a drink of water to wash away the leftover residue. As much as the oil coated the mouth, it also superseded any good flavor notes. #BigDisappointment

Awhile back we reviewed Thrive Market’s Organic Veggie Sticks. They were tasty and the Simply 7 Veggie Chips simply pale in comparison. IMBHO-No for Simply 7’s veggie chip version.

As we researched the company, we found it difficult to find much information. While the Simply 7 brand appears to be transparent on the package with its “Feel Good & Thrive” mantra and “7 ways to keep that positive feeling going”, the company doesn’t live by the same standards.

Linked In allowed us to meet the founding President of Simply 7, Rashim Oberoi. He’s also President of Dishaka, LLC, which is a family-owned, snack manufacturing business that was started in 1952. Guess by who? Baldevraj Oberoi. Grandfather? Uncle? We’re not sure, but it does make the story more interesting, right? It’s also a hunch that Dishaka manufactures Simply 7 products. We don’t know for sure, but after looking at the Dishaka website, it makes sense. #KeepItInTheFamily

One other interesting thing to note about Simply 7 is its Fund Her Farm initiative which supports female farmers by sourcing 100% of the corn used in their Simply 7 popcorn products from female farmers. This was a collaborative effort with Chef Giada De Laurentiis, and for this we give an IMBHO-yes! We’ll let you know at a later date if we like the Simply 7 popcorn product.

Learn more about Cheryl Harvey and Fund Her Farm in the video below. This is a good story! #GirlPower
