No leftover turkey here
On a quick outing this morning, I stopped by a local grocery retailer and picked up their store brand turkey jerky. I had not intended on making the purchase, but it looked good. These days my impulse purchases definitely have increased.
I always look at ingredients before I make any purchase. I look for labels that don’t contain any words I don’t understand—a red flag to me. The label looked good, the carb content was relatively low at 3 grams per serving, and I was really taken with the flavor profile—black sesame & ginger.
As soon as I got home, I had to open the package and give it a try. The package claimed “intensely tasty”, and it delivered. It also delivered on its Asian-inspired claim, as it had distinct Asian-forward flavors. All the ingredients in the 24-hour marinade came together to create a turkey jerky that wasn’t tough or dry, but incredibly moist.
I only found one problem with Private Selection’s black sesame & ginger turkey jerky. I couldn’t stop eating it!
Gobble it up …. that’s what it says on the front of the package, and the marketers weren’t wrong. If you decide to try this jerky, you will want to gobble it up, indeed.
On a side note, this says a lot about store brands and how well they compete with legacy or national brands today. No longer are store brands inferior, but they are delivering on flavor, quality and price promises. This creates additional competition for national brands and it’s the consumers, like you and me, who benefit.
