Treat yourself to a Stud Bite

The philosophy of Stud Bites is to provide consumers with an alternative to protein shakes and bars (and chicken breasts). To this, I say they’re right! It can get quite boring drinking/eating the same thing everyday to get the maximum amount of protein needed to support certain diet regimens.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find out any more information on this company through their website, and stories are important. (Take note Stud Bites. We want to know more about you!) I would say it’s a fairly young endeavor, with its appearance on Facebook beginning in June 2018. Beyond that, I have nothing.

So let’s talk about the product. Here’s what I like.

There is ease to this product, from opening the package to prepping and eating. Inside each muffin container is a small measuring cup for the water you need to add to the mix. This ensures you get the exact amount you need. And the batter mixes perfectly. It’s really a no fuss, no mess method.

The muffins don’t quite raise to the heights as seen in their promo photos, but nonetheless, you can see them creep up the container walls as the microwave does its thing in just 40 seconds.

I purchased a six pack of these muffins on Amazon for $14.99 (Prime shipping), which equates to $2.50 per muffin—not too bad. I received blueberry, double chocolate and banana peanut butter muffins.

In terms of flavor profiles, Stud Bites nailed the banana peanut butter muffin. Each bite gives you both banana and peanut butter. The double chocolate is good, but not quite chocolaty enough for me (but I’m a dark chocolate eater, so keep that in mind). The blueberry, IMBHO, was a bit of a miss on flavor. I did get a “it tastes like fruity pebbles” from one of my taste testers, so there’s that. If you like fruity pebbles, perhaps blueberry is for you.

I’m not a big sweet eater, so I thought these muffins were too sweet. If you crave sweets but need to stay within your high-protein/low-carb eating constraints, you will enjoy the sweetness level.

These muffins are sweetened with sucralose, which gets its fair share of bad press as an artificial sweetener. When it comes to eating style, sweeteners used, and life in general, I tend to follow an, “everything in moderation“ philosophy, so the sucralose doesn’t really bother me.

Will I purchase again? Yes. I will keep these on hand for those times when I’m “hangry” and need something sweet.

Be sure to visit the Stud Bites website for more information on their muffins. Make sure you tell them IMBHO sent you their way!
