Watermelon disaster

Just because something has the USDA Organic stamp, doesn’t mean it’s going to be quality, or even good for that matter. This I found to be true with Trader Joe’s Organic Watermelon Jerky (a.k.a. dried watermelon).

I’m not sure what I expected, maybe a refreshing treat that was “healthy” because it was simply watermelon, but the joke was on me. It was nothing more than the worst kind of fruit leather. The bag was so sticky from the sugar, it was hard to open. And while the first bite wasn’t great and a bit too chewy, I didn’t want to judge prematurely; however, I instantly regretted going in for that second bite.

Moral of this story? Not everything should be dried and packaged. Watermelon—case in point.

Nice try, Trader Joe’s. You got me to buy it once, but I won’t make that mistake a second time.

Just my opinion, IMBHO Contributor: AC
