Wow-ed with Oregon oatmeal
If you’re looking for gluten-free cookies with clean labels, look no further. The Wow Baking Company delivers on nearly all of their cookies.
I ordered four cookies from the Wow website: chocolate chip, peanut butter, lemon burst and pumpkin spice. Each cookie was $1.99. However, the shipping on these cookies cost me twice as much as the cookies, so perhaps purchasing from the website doesn’t make sense. However, they did include a couple of smaller cookies with the order: Oregon oatmeal and snickerdoodle.
I’m happy to report that most of the cookies we received were tasty! From most liked to least liked, here’s the ranking. My personal favorite – the Oregon oatmeal (but oatmeal cookies are always my favorite). Thankfully Wow did them justice. This isn’t just your regular oatmeal cookie either—it has dried cranberries in it, which took the flavor profile up a notch. Since I’m writing this blog, I’m ranking my favorite as #1: Oregon Oatmeal.
The second pick goes to the peanut butter cookie. With peanut chunks and coarse sugar on the outside, this cookie was moist and delicious and offered everything you’d expect from a really good peanut butter cookie. My daughter, who is gluten free, selected this as her favorite. She was excited to have such a good gluten-free cookie in her midst.
The third ranked cookie was lemon burst. Two of our tasters actually ranked it #1. Lemon is one of my favorite flavor profiles, and the cookie had an intense lemon scent when the package was opened, and it did deliver on taste, but Oregon oatmeal and peanut butter beat it out with a slim margin.
The pumpkin spice cookie took fourth place, and it was an extremely moist cookie. It smelled like pumpkin pie and all the spices worked in the flavor profile to produce a really terrific cookie that tasted like it smelled.
The last two cookies on the list are chocolate chip and snickerdoodle, in that order. The chocolate chip cookie was a bit too hard, though it did taste okay. It just wasn’t a favorite. That takes us to the lowly snickerdoodle in last place, that, IMBHO, was quite horrible.
Maybe it’s because I have a sister who makes great snickerdoodle cookies, and I expected this cookie to taste like hers. It didn’t. In fact, where her cookies are a 10, I’d give this cookie a 3 (and that’s being generous).
Thankfully, the Wow Baking Company has more than the snickerdoodle, and all the other gluten-free cookies are worth the purchase, so it’s an IMBHO-yes!
